Louis van Gaal

Louis van Gaal, former Dutch footballer has recently taken charge of the English Premier League giant Manchester United. Van Gaal started his career as professional coach with the Dutch Football League Team Ajax in 1991. Under his lead, the club won three Eredivisie titles, the UEFA Cup, and the Champion.Van Gaal moved to Barcelona in 1997 and won two Spanish league titles and one Copa del Rey. After some disagreements at Barcelona, he was appointed coach of the Netherlands national team, but failed to qualify for the 2002 World Cup. Another brief spell at Barcelona followed before he became manager of AZ. After winning the Eredivisie with AZ in 2008–09, he was hired by Bayern Munich on 1 July 2009.In his first season at Bayern, he secured the Bundesliga title, won the DFB-Pokal, and reached the final of the Champions League. In July 2012, he was appointed manager of the Netherlands for the second time and led them to third place at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, before leaving for Manchester United.

Arriving at Manchester United, van Gaal took some hard decisions for recovering Manchester United from one of the worst phases of its career. Last season they have failed to get into the top four, as a result, could not play in this year's Champions League, which was a huge blow to them. The supporters hope that the big disappointment they have faced at the hands of its previous manager David Moyes can be some what rectified by this new appointment.

Louis van Gaal on its pursuit of helping Manchester United to regain its lost glory, has spend a whopping amount of around £150 million thus far. The transfer season just saw the arrival of Argentina midfielder Angel di Maria from Real Madrid for £59.7million. It also saw the arrival of Colombian star striker Radamel Falcao, Daley Blind, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo.
