Samsung to Launch First Tizen Smartphone in India by November - The Samsung Z

The South Korean giant is reportedly planning to release a smartphone running on its own Tizen OS in India, sometime after the Diwali festival by November. Tizen is a Samsung-developed operating system aimed at breaking away from Google's Android system.

Samsung Electronics today introduced the Samsung Z, the first commercially available smartphone powered by the Tizen platform. The Samsung Z will be on show at the Tizen Developer Conference, San Francisco from June 3^rd.

Samsung's Director of Media Solutions Center, South West Asia, Tarun Malik, reportedly confirmed the plans at the company's global senior management meetings, but he further didn't give the detail about the device, as per Economic Times (via Tizen Experts).

The Samsung Z is a single SIM device which runs Tizen 2.2.1 OS out-of-the-box. It comes with a 4.8-inch (720x1280 pixels) HD Super AMOLED display; 2.3GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM; 16GB of inbuilt storage expandable via microSD card (up to 64GB); 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and BSI sensor; 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2600mAh battery.
